Homeschoolers Program: Day Time Social Ski 

To bridge our Fall and Spring paddling program at ORCC and to keep youth outdoors and active during the winter, we’ve teamed up with the Kanata Nordic Ski Club to offer daytime cross-country ski and snowshoe activities.

Details:

  • The program is open to ages 8 to 12, all experience levels. 
  • Strong emphasis on a participant-centered environment with plenty of supervised free snow and ski playtime. 
  • Activities designed around FUNdamental movement and sports skills to improve the balance, agility, coordination, rhythm, and confidence on skis and establish the foundation on which ski technique skills can be developed.
  • We will take advantage of the outdoor fire pit and cabins for breaks and to warm up. 

Dates:

  • Tuesdays: 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM 
  • 8 sessions: January 9th - February 27th (March 5th - make up class)

Cost:

  • $315
    • This includes the cost of equipment rental and trail/chalet use.

What to bring:

  • Dress warmly in a hat, gloves (+ extra pair), neck warmer/balaclava, snowsuit, warm socks, and boots.
  • Layers!! Enjoy your afternoon to its fullest by mastering the art of layering. Once we get playing, you’ll want to be able to shed a layer or two.
    • Look for warm options that are breathable and moisture-wicking. Wool, fleece, and polyester are great options. When possible, avoid cotton!

      Credit Card & Cancellation Policy

      Credit Card Policy

      • ORCC offers a variety of payment methods such as e-transfer, credit card, and PayPal.   However, credit card/PayPal transactions cost the club thousands of dollars every year.  In an effort to keep program pricing reasonable, we ask those participants who wish to pay by credit card or PayPal to ensure you also pay the credit card/PayPal convenience fee to help offset the costs to the club. No convenience fee is charged for electronic transfers to treasurer@orcc.ca

      Cancellation Policy

      Please be aware of the ORCC Cancellation Policy:

      • Program registration cancellations which are received two weeks prior to the start of the program will receive a full refund less the $15 non-refundable administration fee.
      • No refunds are available within two weeks of the start of the program or once the program has started; a prorated credit only will be issued.
      • In the case of injury or illness, a medical certificate may be required, and refunds will only be offered as camp fee prorated credit to be used for a future ORCC camp or program registration.
